COOKING & PREPARATION:
1. Thawing: Allow the frozen otak to thaw in the refrigerator overnight or follow the package instructions for a quick thaw.
2. Grilling:
– Preheat your grill to medium heat.
– Place the otak on the grill, still wrapped in banana leaves, for approximately 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally.
– Ensure it’s thoroughly cooked, with a golden exterior and the fish inside flaking easily.
3. Steaming:
– If steaming, remove the otak from the banana leaves and place it in a steamer.
– Steam for around 15-20 minutes until it’s heated through.
4. Oven Baking (Optional):
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
– Place the otak, wrapped in banana leaves or foil, in the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes.
5. Serve:
– Once cooked, unwrap the otak and serve it hot. Garnish with fresh herbs or lime for an extra burst of flavor.
